Big Picture People Hot Laps - June 2010
Monday, 07 June 2010

Lee Holdsworth Hot LapsThe Big Picture People Hot Laps day held on Sunday 6th of June was another fun and exciting day for all participants. V8 Supercar driver Lee Holdsworth of the Garry Rogers Motorsport team, drove fifteen lucky competition winners around the Sandown Raceway circuit in Big Picture People Car 33. The wet track provided a lot of excitement for all of the lucky winners as well as a lot of fun for Lee behind the wheel. Lee showed off his exceptional car control skills, consistently performing controlled slides coming out onto the straight of the wet track to the enjoyment of the prize winners and all the spectators that were present on the day.

The Big Picture People Hot Laps day was held in conjunction with a John Bowe Driving Circuit Training day that saw many enthusiasts test their skills on the wet Sandown race track. Despite the wet weather, and a few minor thrills and spills, it was a great day for all involved.

Phillip Island Sprints February 2010
Wednesday, 24 February 2010

The Gantech Racing team's Big Picture People cars 33 and 34 were out and about at the Phillip Island Sprint event on the 13th and 14th of February, 2010. The Phillip Island Auto Racing Club (PIARC) event provided a familiarisation day on Saturday 13th and timed sprints on Sunday 14th. This was the first time the cars were entered in such an event; Car 33 was rebadged as car number 3 for the weekend, and Car 34 was rebadged as car number 134.

Owner driver of Car 33, George Christou, completed a best time of 1:51.6 for the weekend, finishing with the 8th best time of the weekend from a field of 86 competitors; this was a particularly good result bearing in mind that two of the entries that finished above Car 33 were karts. The lesser powered Car 34 driven by yours truly, completed a best time of 2:00.3 in the timed sprints finishing in 36th position. Disappointingly, this was a massive 3 seconds slower than lap times completed during the Saturday familiarisation.

F1 2010 Season Preview
Tuesday, 23 February 2010

The 2010 Formula One season is just around the corner and promises to be a very interesting season. A number of new or rebadged teams and some interesting driver moves, not to mention the return of the great Michael Schumacher has positioned me, well... lets say closer to the edge of my seat. Continuing on from last season are the stalwarts of Ferrari, McLaren, Renault, and Williams, along with the relatively much younger teams of Red Bull, Force India and Torro Rosso. But the highlight of the returning teams is the Mercedes works entry which is in fact last years Championship winning team Brawn. Three new teams join in 2010 including Team Lotus, Virgin F1, and HRT. I can only hope that this season delivers all that it promises.

2010 V8 Supercar Season
Monday, 22 February 2010

The V8 season is underway and Team Vodafone has picked up exactly where it left off. What a great effort by the team that transformed from a Ford team to a Holden team in only a few short months, to come out and win Race 1 and 2. The Abu Dhabi race was a great spectacle and the Bahrain race this week promises more of the same. And of course we can't hide our allegiance to the GRM boys. Go Lee and Michael !  Promising start last week and good luck for the rest of the season. For results and more, visit the V8 Supercars official website.
